Madrid, 21 March 2022.- Capital Energy, the Spanish energy enterprise founded two decades ago with the aim of becoming the first vertically-integrated, 100%-renewable operator in the Iberian Peninsula, has taken a step further in its commitment to sustainable development by joining Forética, a benchmark organisation in sustainability and corporate social responsibility in Spain.

Sustainability has been paramount for Capital Energy since its founding, is ingrained in its values and corporate culture and lies at the heart of its purpose: to contribute to the creation of a new energy model, focused on protecting the environment and fostering the economic and social development of the territories where it operates.

The enterprise intends that this alliance with Forética—which represents the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in Spain and leads the Spanish Business Council for Sustainable Development—will reinforce this purpose. After all, Forética's mission is to promote sustainability in corporate enterprises, providing organisations with expertise and useful tools to successfully develop a competitive and sustainable business model.

By joining Forética, Capital Energy underscores its willingness to align itself with best practices in the sphere of sustainability in the broadest sense (environmental, social and corporate governance) across all areas of activity, in keeping with its 2021-2025 Sustainability Strategy. Furthermore, to respond to today's most urgent challenges, the enterprise will take part in the Social Impact, Climate Change and Transparency, Good Governance and Integrity Clusters.

Víctor Gimeno Granda, Director of Digitalisation and Sustainability at Capital Energy, said: “At Capital Energy we are very proud to join Forética, thus buttressing our commitment to sustainable development, which has always been written into the enterprise's DNA. We are confident that the excellent platform for collaboration that is Forética will enable us to ensure that our programmes are fully aligned with best practices, as well as to contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda goals.”

Germán Granda, Forética’s General Director, noted that: “By signing up to Forética, Capital Energy joins a network of more than 200 partners working towards a triple objective: to increase businesses’ ambition in sustainability, to fast-track actions to tackle challenges in connection with ESG (environmental, social and good governance), and to strengthen alliances to address a sustainable, green and inclusive recovery.”
