Capital Energy and CRC have entered into a strategic partnership agreement to drive the ecological and just transition in Galicia

By: Capital Energy · 11 Apr 2023

The agreement is part of the renewable energy group’s commitment to the socio-economic progress of all the territories in which it operates

  • This leading Galician constructor will be able to play a key role in the commissioning of the wind farms that the energy company is developing in the region, while also participating in the development of renewable energy facilities in other regions
  • The construction and operation of the 29 wind farms proposed by Capital Energy in the region, with a combined capacity of upwards of 1,100 MW, would involve the creation of roughly 4,800 direct jobs, a contribution to GDP of more than 380 million euros and a tax contribution to local coffers of more than 27 million euros

Santiago de Compostela, 11 April 2023.- Capital Energy, the Spanish energy company founded two decades ago aiming to become the Iberian Peninsula’s first vertically integrated, fully renewable operator, continues to consolidate the implementation of its clean energy project in Galicia with the collaboration of local partners.

Thus, the company and the Galician group CRC Obras y Servicios, a leader in the construction sector with vast experience in commissioning wind farms, have entered into a strategic partnership agreement to promote the development of renewable energy facilities in this autonomous community.

This agreement, sealed as part of Capital Energy’s desire to drive the socio-economic progress of all the territories in which it conducts its business, opens the door to CPC’s participation in the future building of the wind farms that the renewable energy company is developing in this community, as well as in clean energy facilities that are being developed in other regions.

The partnership agreement —which stems from Capital Energy’s growing need to hire local suppliers as a result of the progress in developing its portfolio of renewable projects— seeks to take advantage of the synergies between the two companies and the experience and added value contributed by CPC, one of whose strengths is having its own fleet of machinery and professional team.

Furthermore, and in line with the interest of both parties in fostering an ecological and just transition, the document includes a commitment by the Galician construction company that the subcontractors and supplies necessary to undertake the civil works will be, to the extent possible, locally sourced and managed in close partnership with the local councils involved in the projects.

Diego Fabeiro, Head of Energy at Capital Energy, stated that “this agreement with CPC forms part of our Sustainability Strategy, one of the cornerstones of which is the socio-economic and environmental development of the territories in which we conduct our business by boosting the local industrial fabric and generating employment, in this case in Galicia.”

In turn, Ramiro Rilo, the Sales Director of CRC, thanked Capital Energy for “the trust placed in CRC for the development of its projects in Galicia.”
