- Capital Energy and the Santa Bárbara Foundation are seeking to boost employability linked to a sector with high potential and to develop new technological applications, techniques or procedures that contribute to improving production, management and storage processes through renewable sources.
- The partnership with this public institution forms part of the renewable energy group’s desire to become a strategic ally of Castile and León, by creating social, economic and environmental value for the community and its inhabitants
- Capital Energy is developing over 40 renewable energy facilities in Castile and León, with a combined installed capacity of over 3,000 megawatts (MW), the construction of which would create around 11,000 direct jobs during peak construction periods
León, 25 April 2023.- Capital Energy, a Spanish energy company founded over two decades ago and whose aim is to become the Iberian Peninsula’s first vertically integrated, fully renewable energy operator, has renewed its commitment to the ecological and fair energy transition in Castile and León, a key community for the development of its clean energy project, by entering into a Framework Partnership Protocol with the Santa Bárbara Foundation (FSB).
Thanks to this protocol, which is intended to foster professional training and research in the renewable energy sector, the group and this non-profit public entity, which is part of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Castile and León Regional Government, seek to boost employability linked to a sector with a great future, such as clean energy, and to develop new technological applications, techniques or procedures that contribute to improving production, management and storage processes.
In order to organise these actions, Capital Energy and the FSB will draw up educational programmes adapted to meet the company’s staffing needs, foster vocational training as a means of access to qualified jobs, contribute to reducing workplace accidents by offering specific programmes on occupational risk prevention and collaborate in implementing R&D&I projects related to renewable energies. They will also enable participants to undertake internships corresponding to the vocational certificates offered by the public entity.
The work with the Santa Barbara Foundation forms part of Capital Energy’s desire to become a strategic ally of Castile and León, by creating social, economic and environmental value for the community and its inhabitants. In line with this vision, it has the Territories Project, a stand-out initiative that combines its commitment to the transformation of the energy model and its desire to help foster the development of the regions in which it conducts its business.
Castile and Leon is the nerve centre of Capital Energy's clean energy project. After all, the company drives no less than 40 renewable projects in the region, with an overall installed capacity of more than 3 GW, of which more than two thirds come from wind energy.
Building this entire portfolio would entail an overall investment of 2.9 billion euros, create roughly 11,000 direct jobs during peak construction periods, a tax contribution of upwards of 50 million euros during the construction phase and contribute more than 850 million euros to GDP.
