- La Herrada, located in the municipality of Montealegre del Castillo, will create over 170 direct jobs during the peak periods of its construction, will contribute almost 1.4 million euros per year to the GDP throughout its useful life and make an annual tax contribution of more than 150,000 euros to the local coffers
Albacete, 7 February 2023.- Capital Energy, a Spanish energy company founded two decades ago and aiming to become the Iberian Peninsula’s first vertically integrated, fully renewable operator, continues to make strides to consolidate the development of its clean energy project in Castile-La Mancha with the award of the construction of its first wind farm in the region: La Herrada.
Capital Energy has recently sealed a contract with Gestacur under which this infrastructure company from Albacete will be entrusted with engineering, supplying, building, commissioning and refurbishing this new renewable energy facility between the first and last quarter of this year.
La Herrada wind farm, located in the province of Albacete, will have an access capacity of 51 megawatts (MW) and its 10 Siemens Gamesa 5.0-145 wind turbines, with a unit capacity of 5.2 MW, will be capable of supplying roughly 149,000 megawatts per hour (MWh) of electricity annually. This is enough to meet the needs of around 56,000 households in Castile-La Mancha with clean electricity and to avoid the emission of around 55,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
La Herrada, located in the municipality of Montealegre del Castillo, will involve an investment of around 53 million euros and will create more than 170 direct jobs during the peak construction periods. During the operating and maintenance phase, it is expected to provide stable employment to seven professionals from the area and to also help generate around six indirect jobs.
