The company has signed respective agreements with the municipalities of Maján and Cihuela.
- This initiative combines the company's contribution to the decarbonization of the economy and the transformation of the energy model through the implementation of renewable energy installations with its desire to promote regional growth by relying on local talent and strengthening their social, industrial, and business fabric
- The construction of these two wind farms would create around 400 direct jobs during peak construction periods and mobilize an investment of approximately 110 million euros. In the operation and maintenance phase, it would provide permanent employment for around 10 local professionals.
Soria, August 28, 2023. - Capital Energy, a Spanish energy company founded more than two decades ago with the aim of becoming the first 100% vertically integrated renewable operator on the Iberian Peninsula, deepens its commitment to the socio-economic development of Soria, a strategic province for the implementation of its clean energy project.
Thus, the company has signed two new collaboration agreements with the municipalities of the Sorian towns of Maján and Cihuela, linked to its Territorios Project and the development of several of its renewable infrastructures in the province. This initiative combines the group's contribution to the decarbonization of the economy and the transformation of the energy model with its desire to promote the growth of various territories, relying on local talent and strengthening their social, industrial, and business fabric.
Under these agreements, Capital Energy commits to promoting various actions, agreed upon by the parties and tailored to the needs of the municipalities, from the construction of the Cabezuelas and Pedrecha wind farms in Maján, as well as the 400 kV high-voltage line that will connect the Pedrecha and Terrer substations in Cihuela.
In both cases, the projects will be framed within specific guidelines, including improving infrastructure and services, connectivity and digitalization, protection of artistic and cultural heritage, education, health, and socio-labor integration of disadvantaged groups. In fact, some beneficial proposals for the residents are already being considered, such as improvements in land management in Maján or the construction of a pavilion, a playground, and a new wall in Cihuela.
The collaboration between the two municipalities and the renewable energy group will continue in the operation and maintenance phase of the mentioned infrastructures, as they will continue to carry out actions that meet the aforementioned requirements. Through these agreements, Capital Energy reaffirms its interest in contributing to the sustainable development of the province of Soria through actions that ensure an effective improvement in the quality of life of its inhabitants and the environment.
Investments, Employment, and Clean Energy for the Province of Soria
The Cabezuelas and Pedrecha wind farms will be located in the Sorian towns of Velilla de los Ajos, Nolay, Maján, Cañamaque, and Serón de Nágima, and will have a combined capacity of 100 megawatts (MW). These renewable installations will generate about 340,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of about 130,000 households, and will annually avoid the emission of more than 120,000 tons of CO2.
The construction of these renewable installations would create around 400 direct jobs during peak construction periods and mobilize an investment of around 110 million euros. In the operation and maintenance phase, Cabezuelas and Pedrecha will provide permanent employment for around 10 local professionals and generate another 10 indirect jobs.
These renewable installations will have an annual fiscal impact of more than 300,000 euros on local coffers during their useful life, which will also receive the punctual payment of the ICIO and other fees, amounting to more than 2 million euros. Additionally, they will contribute 3.25 million euros annually to the GDP.
The High-Voltage Transmission Line that will connect the Pedrecha and Terrer substations will evacuate the renewable electricity produced by a 148.5 MW wind cluster composed, among others, of the Cabezuelas and Pedrecha wind farms. Apart from Cihuela, it will pass through Sorian towns such as Serón de Nágima, Torlengua, and Velilla de los Ajos.
These new agreements signed by Capital Energy in the province of Soria, linked to the implementation of the mentioned wind farms and their evacuation infrastructures, add to those already signed with the municipalities of other towns involved in these and other projects, such as Cubo de la Solana, Arcos de Jalón, Serón de Nágima, Torlengua, Taroda, and Almaluez, as well as Velilla de los Ajos, Cañamaque, Viana de Duero, Soliedra, and Morón de Almazán, and demonstrate the company's intention to go beyond the intrinsic benefits linked to its clean energy installations.
The Territorios Project: A Differential Value
Through the Territorios Project, Capital Energy aims to articulate its commitment to sustainable development, becoming an integral part of the regions where it is present, and contributing to their social and economic growth.
To achieve this, the company commits to allocating specific economic resources during the construction and operation phases of its renewable installations to the realization of actions agreed upon with various local interest groups. As a result of this differential approach, the group will consider the particularities and needs of each region in the selection of these initiatives.
With these actions, Capital Energy demonstrates its intention to accompany the development of its renewable energy projects in Spain and Portugal with the launch of social and environmental action programs, adapted to local needs, to maximize its contribution to the socio-economic progress of all the territories in which it operates.
