Santiago de Compostela, 16th April 2021. Capital Energy, a Spanish energy company founded in 2002 with the vocation of becoming the first vertically-integrated 100%-renewable energy operator on the Iberian Peninsula, has just signed its first social framework agreement in Galicia.
Specifically, the company has signed an agreement with the Asociación de Persoas con Discapacidade da Bisbarra de Muros (Adisbismur) whose purpose is to promote initiatives that encourage the employment, social welfare and integration of people with disabilities in the district of Muros (Corunna), where Capital Energy is promoting the development of several wind farms, such as Banzas and Maragouto[1].
The cooperation between both entities will therefore be implemented, through various specific agreements, in the start-up of projects related to the social and employment insertion of this group, as well as with the implementation of improvements in the field of energy: promotion of entrepreneurship and an introduction to the world of business; organisation of training activities; sponsorship of equipment for centres and activities; promotion of energy efficiency in the special employment centre, etc.
The signing of this social agreement in Galicia is part of Capital Energy's commitment to the green and fair energy transition. The company wants to accompany the development of its renewable energy projects in Spain and Portugal with the launch of social and environmental action programmes there are adapted to local needs in order to maximise its contribution to the socio-economic progress of every territory in which it operates.
In this regard, Juan José Sánchez, CEO of Business of Capital Energy, has stressed that “our commitment is to reconcile the aim of decarbonising the economy with boosting the rural environment where clean energy is produced, generating employment and wealth, as well as establishing stable relationships with local entities, as is the case of Adisbismur”.
At present, it has around 40 renewable energy projects in Galicia, which are all wind-based, spread over the four provinces. All together they total almost 1,100 MW, and their development will involve an overall investment of approximately €780 million.
