  • The renewable energy facility, located in the municipal districts of A Baña and Negreira, will have an installed power of 30 megawatts (MW) and its development involves an investment of EUR21,000,000.
  • The five wind turbines at what is Capital Energy's third wind farm in Galicia will be capable of supplying clean energy to more than 43,500 homes and preventing the annual emission of more than 42,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
  • The construction of the Troitomil wind farm will stimulate the creation of around 180 jobs and will have an annual financial impact on the regional and local coffers, and also through leasing agreements, of around EUR250,000.

Santiago de Compostela, 19th February 2021. Capital Energy, a Spanish energy company founded in 2002 with the vocation of becoming the first vertically-integrated 100%-renewable energy operator on the Iberian Peninsula, continues to move forward to ensure the development of its clean energy project in Galicia.

The Regional Department for the Economy at the Xunta (Galicia's Government) has announced that it is submitting the application for permission [1] for its third wind farm in Galicia to public consultation: Troitomil. Located in the province of Corunna, it will have an installed power of 30 megawatts (MW) and involves an investment of approximately EUR21,000,000.

The five wind turbines in this Capital Energy wind farm will be capable of supplying 100,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean energy, equivalent to the consumption of more than 43,500 homes in Galicia, thus preventing the annual emission of more than 42,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The Troitomil wind farm, in the municipal districts of A Baña and Negreira, will also stimulate the creation of more than 180 jobs during its construction stage and will have an annual financial impact on regional (wind fees) and local (property tax and trade tax) coffers, and also through leasing agreements, of more than EUR250,000. EUR800,000, which is the one-off payment for the tax on construction, installations and building works (ICIO), can be added to this recurring sum.

Recently, the Regional Department for the Economy also submitted the Company’s first two wind farms in Galicia to public consultation: Banzas and Maragouto, which will have an installed power of 31 megawatts (MW) and 35 MW respectively.

The development of these three wind farms, with a total installed power of approximately 100 MW, represents a clear demonstration of the Company’s commitment to the region, where it envisages investing around EUR90,000,000 in the short term which, amongst other benefits, will stimulate the creation of more than 550 jobs during the construction stage.

It should also be pointed out that Capital Energy has an office in the municipal district of Ames which already has 15 employees, some of whom come from the areas of Mazaricos, Outes, Negreira and A Baña.

Nowadays, Capital Energy has around 40 renewable energy projects in Galicia, which are all wind-based, spread over the four provinces. All together they total almost 1,100 MW, and their development will involve a global investment of approximately EUR780,000,000.
