Our commitment to biodiversity
Our projects get information from the strategic environmental assessment procedures and/or projects and include the sectoral studies that, in each case, are needed to be able to assess their possible effects correctly:
- Bird and bat studies;
- Landscape studies;
- Acoustic effects studies;
- Cumulative and synergistic effects studies;
- Studies of the effect on the cultural heritage.
Plus other studies which may have to be drawn up at the request of the Spanish Government, Autonomous Communities or the requirements of our companies themselves.
With precise knowledge about the projects and the area where they will be rolled out, we design preventive, corrective and compensatory measures. Their effectiveness is verified by implementing environmental monitoring plans, which are carried out at all stages of the project: construction, operation and decommissioning.
Biodiversity Pact
We do not just want to contribute to protecting biodiversity in the areas we operate in. We also want to be a part of the joint initiatives in the field, supporting the benchmark initiatives and institutions. That’s why Capital Energy has joined the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB) (Spanish acronym), by signing the Biodiversity Pact.
Signing the agreement highlights our support for the objectives contained in the United Nations Conference Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), regarding the conservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of its components and fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the use of genetic resources.

Spanish Environmental Impact Assessment Association (AEEIA-Spanish acronym)
With a view to ensuring that these studies are carried out in-line with all current legal requirements and that we are able to anticipate future requirements, Capital Energy is a member of the Spanish Environmental Impact Assessment Association (AEEIA).
