Climate neutrality and positive impact

Conceived as a 100% renewable and vertically integrated company, at Capital Energy we work to address the climate emergency and the energy transition throughout its value chain.

Our goal is to contribute to the decarbonization of the energy sector by promoting solutions that help improve the environment.

Our carbon footprint

Since 2019, we have been measuring our carbon footprint across all three scopes in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the most widely used greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement standard in the world.

In addition, we have undergone a verification process through an external auditor to ensure the reliability and transparency of this information.

Scope 1

Use of fossil fuels in rental vehicles and employee vehicles used for site visits and/or meetings with stakeholders.

Scope 2

Electricity consumption in the facilities where Capital Energy carries out its activities, including both offices and renewable energy generation parks.

Scope 3

Trips made by employees for work-related reasons using means of transport not controlled by Capital Energy (plane, train, rental car, etc.), hotel stays, and cloud data storage.

We obtain the MITERD seal for our Carbon Footprint

Since 2020, we have been registering our Carbon Footprint in the “Carbon Footprint, Offset and CO₂ Absorption Projects Registry” of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITERD). This registry reflects the efforts of Spanish organizations to minimize their environmental impact through three levels of action: calculation, reduction, and offsetting of their carbon footprint.

 

This milestone is the first step toward achieving our goal of ensuring that the activities across our value chain have a net positive impact on the environment and promoting solutions that address the climate emergency and the energy transition, thus aligning ourselves with the European goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
